2012 was a BIG year for Makaylah. Makaylah switched teams last year to run with a team that runs USATF. The Wings Track Club welcomed Makaylah with opened arms. She had a great group of girls that she ran with on her team and became very close friends with many. We were a little concerned at the start of the season because she was going to compete against 11 and 12 year old (her being 11) in this division as a first year "Midget Girl". I am sooooo excited. The past two day have been long and very hot (104 degrees). Well the heat didn't stop me. I ran in three events: 400 meter, the 800 meter and I ran on a 4x400 meter relay team at the National Qualifing Meet. This was a very important meet. This meet determined if I will be running in New Orleans at the AAU Junior Olympics. In the 400 and the 800 meter events I placed 1st in both and in the 4x400 relay we placed second. This blog is a recap of last years track season. Makaylah worked really hard in 2010's track season and everyone knows that hard work pays off. Well Makaylah qualified in three events placing 1st in the 400 meter, 800 meter and 1500 meter to advance to the AAU Junior Olympics in Norfolk, Va. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that has helped with financial donations to help us get Makaylah to the Junior Olympics. An update has been made to the CHIP IN LINK in the top right corner of the page. We are just 8 days away from leaving. Makaylah is very excited and hopes everyone will be cheering her on.
